Admission to Secondary 1 In 2023

Introduction

The Direct School Admission Exercise for Secondary School (DSA-Sec) allows students to seek admission to Kranji Secondary School on the basis of talents and achievements that may not be demonstrated at the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

We are accepting applications for DSA-Sec in the following categories:

Talent AreaCriteria
Sports and Games

      • Basketball (Girls Only)
      • Football (Boys Only)

Applicant must be able to demonstrate strong interest and talent in relevant areas (Basketball/Football) beyond the abilities of students in the same age group


Conduct: Good and above


Representation in sports related competitions will be preferred (but not compulsory) 

Performing Arts

      • Concert Band
      • Chinese Dance
      • Modern Dance

Applicant must be able to demonstrate strong interest and talent in relevant areas (Music/Dance) beyond the abilities of students in the same age group


Conduct: Good and above


Representation in performing arts related competitions will be preferred (but not compulsory)


Qualification(s) in music or dance will be preferred (but not compulsory)
Language and Humanities

      • Humanities

Applicant must be able to demonstrate strong interest and talent in relevant areas (Humanities) beyond the abilities of students in the same age group.


Applicant must have a history of consistent high academic achievements in relevant subject (English).


Conduct: Good and above


Representation in related competitions will be preferred (but not compulsory) 

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

      • Science

Applicant must be able to demonstrate strong interest and talent in relevant areas (Science) beyond the abilities of students in the same age group.


Applicant must have a history of consistent high academic achievements in relevant subject (Science).


Conduct: Good and above


Representation in related competitions will be preferred (but not compulsory)
Leadership and Uniformed Groups

      • Leadership

Applicant must be able to demonstrate strong interest and talent in relevant areas (Leadership) beyond the abilities of students in the same age group.


Applicant must have a conviction to make a positive difference to benefit others and/or show the ability to rally the support of others to strive towards a common goal.


Conduct: Very Good and above


Relevant achievement and experiences in the field of leadership will be considered.

Please also take note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.

Additional Information:

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.

Please note that:

Students successfully allocated to their DSA-Sec schools will NOT be allowed to participate in the annual S1 Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools, and are expected to honour the commitment to the allocated DSA Sec school for the entire duration of the programme.
